Third Hand Fixture for Hot Air Gun

Third Hand Fixture for Hot Air Gun

Designed for handheld hot air guns used in soldering and SMD desoldering operations, this third hand fixture is a practical helper for those working with electronics. In work such as electronic repair, prototype production, and PCB assembly, holder systems called a “third hand” both improve work safety and make more precise work possible.

Various problems can occur over time in a significant portion of ready-made third hand products sold on the market.

In particular, loosening of extension arms and joints, failure to adequately support the weight of the fixed equipment, or not remaining fixed at the desired angle are among the frequently encountered problems.

This situation can create a serious disadvantage when it comes to equipment such as a hot air gun, which is both heavy and produces high temperature.

Developed based on this need, the hot air gun third hand fixture was modeled fully parametrically using OpenSCAD software. The source .stl 3D files for the design are available, and users can easily make changes to the dimensions if they wish.

This makes it possible to adapt it to different types of hot air guns or workbenches. Metal rods must be used for the section that carries the hot air gun.

How these rods are attached to the edge of the table, to a clamp, or to a different fixing point is left entirely to the user’s preference.

Thanks to this flexibility, the fixture can be customized according to the existing workspace.

In short, this third hand fixture offers a functional option for those looking for a low-cost, customizable, and more robust alternative compared to ready-made solutions in the long term.

It will provide serious ease of use in the workshop for those who regularly work with electronics.
