Hair dryers use DC motors between 12V…24V. They rarely fail, usually the 220V cable or heating resistor fails. I have not seen a motor fail yet, in fact I have a hair dryer that I bought from the Kadıköy flea market in 2002, repaired the cable and used 🙂
You can use this motor at low DC voltages for different jobs. I will use it for the barbecue 🙂 Instead of a classic fan, a battery-powered barbecue fan is more useful for the barbecue. The machine I used was solid, but the neighbor scrapped it when he bought a new one.
The operating voltage of the motor is 18V DC. I used 3 18650 batteries in series, actually 4 series connections would have been better, but there was no 4-way socket anyway, 3 batteries provide enough power, the blowing level is quite high.
What you need to do is remove the heating resistor, the bridge diode connected to the motor, and the diode on the switch if there is one. In other words, the battery will be connected directly to the motor.
