This device is really small (10cm x 5cm x 3cm). It produces sparks with a length of 5mm to 10mm at high power. The output voltage must be greater than 8kV, because I closed an 8kV limit with this unit! WARNING: It is really painful to touch the contacts (in the upper part of the picture) and press the “fire” button (I tried it myself… the 2uF cap only charged to 500V. I am not crazy enough to touch the contacts after that. The 2uF cap is charged to 740V)

Basically, I discharge a 2uF @ 740V cap through a self-made ignition/trigger coil.
The coil (Tr2) has a ferrite core that is 4cm long and 1cm in diameter. The primary side of the coil has 15 turns of 1mm wire. The secondary side has about 400 turns of thin wire. I wrapped the secondary winding over the primary windings. I used a lot of insulation tape between each layer of the HV windings. There is a shrink tube and insulation tape between the primary and secondary layers.

The output voltage is lower than the output voltage of the first mobile HV-Pulse Generator because I used a smaller cap. This circuit is easier to build than the first version because you will need fewer parts.

The transformer is the same photoflash transformer that I used for Mobile HV Generator I and II.

None of the parts values ​​are critical. Transistors: for BD135 with a capacity of 2A and about 45V you can use any NPN transistor. For PNP transistor with a capacity of 2A and about 45V you should use fast switching type. Voltage doubler caps: capacitance is NOT critical! You can use any cap you can find with a capacitance of some nF. If the 36kOhm or 10MOhm resistance values ​​are not correct, there is no problem => The maximum output voltage will be less than or higher than 1500V.
