An interesting study was done using push-pull solenoids in the Arduino drum project. Rhythms are played using MIDI files with Arduino. The Arduino Ethernet card is used to read MIDI files from the SD card.

12 push-pull solenoids were used to play different sounds and the solenoids are controlled by relays. Arduino UNO – Arduino Ethernet cards, a 5V adapter for relay power, and a separate 12V 30A power supply for the solenoids since they draw high current.

Note: If you want to implement the project, test it with LEDs before purchasing the relay modules and solenoids, if it is successful you can continue.
