Friends, I wanted to share with you the metal detector circuit based on ICL8038 and LM386, which I made for a brother at my workplace.
ICL8038 : waveform generator is a monolithic integrated circuit capable of generating high precision sine, square, triangle, sawtooth and pulse waveforms with minimal external components. Frequency (or repetition rate) can be selected externally from 0.001Hz to more than 300kHz using resistors or capacitors, and frequency modulation and sweeping can be performed with an external voltage. The ICL8038 is manufactured with advanced monolithic technology using Schottky barrier diodes and thin film resistors and is stable over a wide range of temperature and supply variability.
LM386 : It is a monolow voltag-amplifier that can be used in various applications. The gain is internally set to 20, but can be changed from 20 to 200 by placing a 1 to 8 resistor and capacitor.
The circuit has not been tested, but those who have it and run it are known. When the output frequency of the circuit is set to 5kHz (thanks to the switch), it will not see other metals except gold. If the switch is in the other position, it will not see other metals other than silver.
In order to test the circuit, the (yellow egg sticks) that will be stuck in the soil (yellow egg sticks: D) will be stuck in the ground at 1 meter intervals and if a little water is poured into the soil between the two sticks, more area scanning can be done. Also, if we amplify the signal outputs with the TDA2003 and transfer them to the ground, we can search at deeper distances. Unfortunately, I don’t know how many meters it is searching from, but it is said that it goes down to 5 meters in this state.
For detailed information on the brass rods used for searching, visit Visit here.
The printing between the printed circuit board and the ares file on the plate is different, don’t be misled. After removing the plate, I thickened the printed circuit boards. Friends who will do it can print it this way.
