In the early 1980s, the Led panel of the car named “Kit” in the K”nightRider” series became very famous, and many similar circuits were used in cars. A more advanced version of it was used in this project. A total of 32 LEDs are controlled based on the black lightning led effect circuit pic16f84 microcontroller and lm358 opamp. . The burning speed and brightness of the LEDs can be adjusted with 50k trimpots. With the “Pattern select” button, 12 different operating modes can be switched.

32-LED Knightrider with PIC Control A PIC processor simplifies the circuitry and gives 12 different lighting patterns for 32 LEDs. You can use it as a rear window brake light as an eye-catching display.

In the early 1980s there was a TV series called KnightRider. His “Star” was a highly intelligent car that went by the catchy name “Kit”. Mind you, Kit was no ordinary car. He had powers and abilities far beyond mortal chariots. Kit could talk, drive himself, and supposedly see using a series of lights in the front that were ‘scanned’ from side to side to simulate watching ahead.

Although the Knight Rider TV series ended a long time ago, such scan lights continued to gain traction, and we released two KnightRider light displays, one in November 1988 and the other in May 1996. Both of these used 16 LEDs and had a single fixed scanning screen. model.

But both of these were in the days before microcontrollers – or at least before microcontrollers were widely used in projects.

The latest version of Knight Rider has twice as many LEDs (32) and a number of different display models are available, selected using a button switch. There are four scan sequences, a chaser and a flash.

If you have the display mounted on your car’s storage rack, you can also use it as a brake light.
