The LM3886 integrated circuit is based on bipolar transistors. It is equipped with protection circuitry for overheating, overload, and a very useful muting circuit for switching on and off the power supply. The delay time is determined by the RC time constant attached to the foot 8 and can be selected as desired.
The LM3886 amplifier is powered by symmetrical voltage, so there is no need for separating capacitors at the output. The loudspeaker is connected to the amplifier output via a choke with an inductance of about 0.7mH. The gland creates a few turns of wire wound on the resistor – in practice it is about 7 turns of DNE 0.8 … 1 mm on a resistor of 6 … 8 mm diameter. The amplifier output choke (in parallel with the 10 V dampening resistor) is used to protect the amplifier against the capacitive nature of the cable and loudspeaker terminals. If the loudspeaker column does not have built-in induction filters, you can risk and skip the coil using only a resistor.

For the correct operation of the LM3886 amplifier, a symmetrical power supply with adequate current capacity is required. Keep in mind that attempting to power from a lower-power source will not only prevent the full power of the amplifier, but will interfere with its performance. The parameters obtained, especially the output power, will also depend on the supply voltage. At ± 42 V and 8 V loudspeaker columns, you can get an output power of 90 W. When powered by a voltage of ± 28 V and a 4 V load it will be around 68 W, ± 28 V and 8 V – 38 W, at ± 35 V and 8 V – about LM3886 50 W.
